The New Year marks a fresh start and a new beginning for both your personal and professional resolutions. With 365 days of data and analytics in place, you can easily look back at your year in social media and see how you fared in audience growth, engagement rate, and how your audience responded to your online presence.
Were you able to convert hearts into customers with your content this year, or not on the scale you wanted?
If getting your social media content strategy on track is one of the things that you want to work on for your business, you’re in the right place. I will share with you my tips and tricks to make the most of your social media in 2019.
Set Your Goals
The first place to start building a content strategy is to set tangible goals that are specific, measurable, and have a time-frame in which to reach your intended goal. An example would be increasing your Instagram audience by 500 followers by the end of January. You can then build a plan of action around this goal, such as a new hashtag strategy or follow/like/comment plan around attracting an audience from a specific industry.
Target Your Audience
Crafting a “follower persona” is the first place to build a strategy for your content plan. Ask yourself:
– What gender is my follower?
– How old is my follower, or what is the age range?
– Where does my follower live?
– What are my follower’s interests?
– What are my follower’s needs, and how can my business help them?
Once you have a clear idea of who you are talking to, you can start to build a visual content plan to grab their attention on your social channels through pictures, videos, quotes, and targeted hashtags.
Build A Hashtag Campaign
A strong hashtag strategy will help you connect with your ideal follower persona. To start building a hashtag strategy, look up a starting hashtag on Instagram (#womeninbusiness, for example), and then visit posts of comparable accounts that are similar to yours and see what hashtags they are using. There are a number of free apps and online tools to help guide your hashtag strategy process and connect with your target follower audience.
Be Consistent
Consistency is key to retaining and growing your ideal audience through Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and other social channels. The easiest way to be consistent is to plan your posts in advance and to schedule the posts using a social media scheduling tool. The best way to plan your posts in advance is to identify what you want to promote for that week and then build educational, informational, and motivational content around it. You can then repeat that process for additional weeks.
Measure Your Success
Your available data and analytics will help you measure the effectiveness of your content strategy based on your goals. You can look for audience growth by age, gender, location and other key metrics through the individual social platforms, or through a social media scheduling tool that offers analytic tools. You can additionally gauge your engagement rate and see if your targeted audience is responding to the content strategy that you put forth.
